I have long been using banners on my sites, hoping to earn some good commission from affiliate marketing. After 2 years of testing, I realized that they don’t really convert as well. After doing multiple testing, guessing and human mind analysis, I realized that banners actally work the least!! The thing about banner is that they are too general. Even if it belongs to a specific niche, say”clothing”, still the banners are usually general pictures that are not product specific. What really converts according to my experience is product specific link. Such as BCBG trimmed v-neck top. This is a specific product. Using affiliate links in that picture has proven to be effective, especially in clothing niches. Next is of course textual links. The text itself must also be convincing and attract people to click. Generally, its tempting and much more effective than plain banners.

What about Pop Shops  ?

Pop shops is so powerful in the sense that it allows you to create a merchant store with specific products in just minutes. You just create an account with popshops.com, then key in your affiliate id from the top 4 affiliate networks: CJ, Linkshare, Shareasale and Performics. It is really easy, you save alot of programming time and in fact you don’t even need to know programming. Just log in, select the merchant store, look for the product you want to put on your site, click to add it, and pop it! Then you have your merchant store ready where each product has a link with your affiliate id in it to allow you to earn commission.
